Christmas Vacation in the Caribbean - A New Holiday Tradition

This was our 3rd year celebrating Christmas in the Caribbean - Grand Cayman. Jake, the girls and I headed down to Cayman Island on a Wednesday, a bit earlier than most, so we were able to enjoy the beaches virtually to ourselves for the first part of our vacation. The beauty of the island was humbling.

Our toddler, Ava, was not scared of the sand or the water this year (and Cayman is basically a sand and coral island surrounded by water), so we were able to really enjoy the experience in a very different way. My memories of Christmas past included quite a bit of napping (Ava needed a daily nap) and carrying ("Mom, hold me!" became Ava's mantra during our daily dawn and dusk strolls along the shoreline). At least I was working my biceps, but what a relief to have a little girl who actually wanted to run in the sand (sometimes I asked her if I could please hold her for a bit!).

Going to the Cayman Islands has become a new holiday tradition for us - one of the best traditions we have. I can't wait for next Christmas!

Photos by Staci

How lucky am I to have a friend who is a photographer? Staci Slater White is not only great with a camera, but she loves kids, and it is just so easy for them to love her.

See Staci's blog for great photos, cute stories, and her contact information.

Cheetos Cheese Balls

We went to the store yesterday, and the girls asked if they could get some 'cheetos cheese balls' that were on display. I said no, we have enough junk food at home already. And those cheese balls make a HUGE mess. Check out what I found on my pillow last night:
I am thinking they REALLY want those cheese balls!

Zoo Spooktacular | Visit SophiasStyle.com Booth for Prizes, Cookies, Popcorn and More

I am looking forward to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo Spectacular on October 25th! SophiasStyle.com Children's Clothing Boutique and our sister company, SweetGourmetGifts.com are teaming up for a sweet booth, overflowing with prizes, treats (for tricks), gourmet cookies, and freshly popped popcorn (delicious treats for the kids AND the parents).

This is a great event for families. My daughters, husband and I went last year, and we have an amazing time! Not only did the kids get to trick-or-treat in a safe environment, but we all were able to enjoy the amazing animals at one of the country's best zoos.

Use your zoo pass or pay general admission for this fun filled day at the zoo. Stop by and say hello, enjoy our sweet gourmet gifts, and enter to win great prizes.
